Castella Cheesecake - Review
Cheesetart is a hit
Now i’m excited more than anyone when a new bakery pops up in town. But when the bakery has solid roots in another city they must be doing something right. Castella hails from Vancouver and they do something very right which are their cheesetarts.
Now now everyone has been raving about their Cheesecake Souffle…I mean it’s in the name. But it wasn’t as great as I’d hope. It felt inconsistent in tast, with more dry parts to it than I had wanted. This gave it a bit of a bland flavor with some hints of cheesecake. This needed to be better imo.
The cream croissant was a bit hard, not that buttery in taste but had a nice cream on the inside. This was a bit better than the souffle in my opinion but also a tad too pricey.
Finally, the best thing at Castella is the cheesetarts. Absolutely stunning. It’s not too sweet and still so creamy. The crust is soft and crumbles so delicately with every bite. This is the only thing you should be buying here as it’s just such a great item.
One thing that sucked was that they don’t provide bags, it’s like 40 cents, but still very dumb. The bag is just a boring brown bag as well it’s not even branded. How am I supposed to flex to everyone at WEM that I got cheesetarts? They also ask for tip here at a bakery which is strange, as I’d prefer the company just pay the staff more.
This place has been bombarding my socials with paid influencers saying how good it is. I’m happy I got to try it for at least the cheesetart. I’ll try the basque cake and the tiramisu one day. For now it’s an ok stop for one item in particular.
