So when I began reviewing things back in 2017 it was fairly simple. Just Eat it, Just Try it and Just Skip it. Basically I was thinking in simple 1 out of 3. However overtime there were places I’d consider giving a 0/3. This led me to reconsider my system. I then began a grading out of 5. Overtime I didn’t like it so now currently it is as stands.
0-1.9 Just Skip it. There will be degrees of why it is worth not going and why it is absolutely trash.
2-3.9 Just Try It. No these are places i’d go to. It’s worth a visit. However if a restaurant is below 3 like a 2.6. Then i’d consider it like something you’d expect from a chain restaurant. Worth trying if you’re in the neighborhood. Like Boston Pizza is a good spot for wings 2.5. However, if it’s a bit more special then it will be in 3 territory. La Petite Iza is excellent i’d give it a 3.6.
4 and above is World Class territory. Best omakase experience in San Francisco? Ju-Ni that’s 4.8 for me. It has one Michelin Star. Kobachi is a solid 4.1. There are levels to this.
