Dogpatch - Review

Mimosa flightttt

For the most part, Dogpatch will be known for their Mimosa flights. They’re tasty, cute looking, and instagrammable. However, this bistro pub is so much more. They’re serving up happy hour, and a decent selection of appetizers, and mains. When I visited, I came for brunch and it was tasty.

To start was the delicious Mimosa flight. Peach was my fave but they have grapefruit as well if that’s your thing. I hate grapefruit with a passion. For my dish, I had the Baked Potato Boxty. It’s the Dogpatch’s version of an Irish potato pancake topped with cheddar cheese, sour cream, and onions. Fuck, this pancake was something different. So fluff yet crisp on the outside. I had a large pile of sausage dumped on it which were a bit dry but salty. Add the saltiness of the sausage with the tangy taste of the thick sour cream and I’m lovinnn every bite. My friend had The Patch Benny with sausage and also agreed that the sausage was “dry and bland”. So…she wasn’t a fan. This dish however had 2 poached Four Whistle Farm eggs on buttermilk biscuits topped with hollandaise with crispy breakfast potatoes and fresh fruit. I thought the potatoes were just ok but having fruit on both dishes was refreshing.

Overall this spot I believe is worth a try. Mind you we were only here for brunch but they have daily specials and some of the other non-brunch food looks pretty bomb. So I’ll have to stop by again for sure. It’s located in the “Dogpatch” which, back in the day, like the 1930s. More commonly known now as Riverdale just east of 92 street and south of 100th ave. Its sister restaurant is Little Brick. Where also back in the day the area was home to a lumber mill and JB’s Little Brickyard. Pretty cool hey? Edmonton history. Pretty pretty neat.

Sal says: Just Try It (3.3/5)

Jess says: I’m indifferent about it. A trendy neighborhood spot to have some brunch with friends or your favorite canine. Stick to the bacon if you are going for brunch, the sausage patty was dry and bland as my star protein. 😒
