Travel Food Tuesday
One of the Best of All Time
When I did a solo trip to Asia maybe 4 years ago? My first stop was Ho Chi Minh City, aka Saigon. I was pumped to go. I needed to try all the Pho and Banh Xeo I could get for a dollar…which was a lot. But after a few days of traditional Vietnamese food I needed an escape. Everyone does.
Luckily, a few months before my trip, one of my older Vietnamese friends said to try 4P Pizza. He said it calmly, as he was recessed in a dimly lit corner of the bar, taking the last puff of his cigarette. So this didn’t happen, but for someone who tells me nothing about food and this was his suggestion….I had to try.
Leaving my hostel for a trek out to get this pizza was quite a journey. Built-up some hunger and depression after the War Museum and the Avenger’s Skyscraper and now find myself at 4P.
Ordered the pizza and wowwwwww, this thing has a massive burrata on it. It was amazing. It smelled so good. Everything about this pizza was so aesthetically pleasing. The waitress waited till I could prepare a video of the splitting of the burrata, and damn was it amazing. She had surgeon like precision to cut this cheese ball, draping a sliver on each piece of pizza, as if unfolding a cheese sweater’s sleeves onto a bed. Was this love? Who was this Angel?
After that first bite, the dough was so soft yet crisp. The toppings were fresh and the cheese was perfect. This pizza was Pro League pizza, top tier, it was insane who good it was. Pizza 4P is a must eat place for me if I find myself back in Saigon. Definitely, just eat it. Really makes Giordano’s look absolutely fucking stupid.
