Drinks and Meats

It was nice to enjoy Say Uncle BC (before covid), one of the only establishments in Downtown Edmonton to have a diverse drink selection as well as some decent meat.

I’ve always said that Edmonton needs more BBQ spots just because we need to utilize our Alberta beef. It’s good. It’s what makes our pho the best. Why not make some great BBQ here? Say Uncle does just that.

The waitress had told me that the Brisket Sandwich was the move here so I ordered it. When I received it, the smell of it was pretty intoxicating. Carolina mustard, Texas BBQ sauce, mayo apple slaw all squished between sourdough. This paired with an old fashioned? What a pairing. Is it the new Coke and Pizza? (I should stop using this comparison). The brisket on this sandwich was juicy, and decently seasoned. It definitely had some good flavor in there. I mean what do you expect from the sister restaurant of Northern Chicken. Also with my meal I had poutine as a side. A simple brown gravy with curds and green onion. Pretty decent.

Aside from this meal, they have a great selection of alcohol. From craft beer to it’s wine, it’s got a good selection. I know this because the first time I came here my buddy and I wanted to pop in for a quick drink. Which then turned to many and an intense game of cribbage. This turned into ignoring all other priorities for the evening and having at least 75% of the beer selection in a matter of a couple of hours between 4 bros. It was great. I lost at cribbage. I’m bad at maths.
